Choose by material and opening size
Wood, MDF, plywood, tile, masonry and other materials place different demands on the cutting edge and support. Match the tool to the material listed for the product, then compare the hole diameter, cutting depth and the clearance available behind the workpiece.
Check the machine fit
Confirm the shank or arbor size matches the drill, router, angle grinder or other holder.
Check the tool diameter and cutting depth against the machine guard and workpiece thickness.
Use a pilot drill, guide or stable workholding when the product instructions call for one.
Make a test opening in matching scrap before cutting a visible cabinet or installation panel.
Common questions
Can one hole saw cut every material? No. Check the product material notes and tooth or edge design before using it on a new substrate.
How do I choose the diameter? Match the listed cutting diameter to the hardware, pipe, cable or fitting that will pass through the opening, allowing for the clearance required by the installation.
